The future of sustainable cities depends on smarter, more efficient and resilient energy systems. The HYNET project was presented at the event “How Direct Current Can Shape the City of the Future,” highlighting the growing importance of Direct Current (DC) technologies in Europe’s energy transition.
The event explored how DC technologies can support the integration of renewable energy sources, improve energy efficiency and enable innovative solutions for buildings, transport, industry and urban infrastructure.
The presentation of HYNET by the project coordinator Ioannis Routis, PhD, contributed to the broader discussion on how innovative energy solutions can help shape the cities of tomorrow. By bringing together stakeholders from research, industry and policy, the event provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge, share perspectives and explore new opportunities for the deployment of DC technologies.

As Europe moves towards its climate-neutrality goals, collaboration and knowledge sharing remain essential to accelerating innovation and translating technological progress into practical benefits for cities and communities.
